The arrival of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) is imminent. 4IR entails the convergence of various emerging technologies to create new products and services that could change and improve our quality of life. Examples of 4IR applications include, artificial intelligence for melanoma detection, and fully automated “dark factory”. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), 4IR has the potential to raise global income levels and disrupt “almost every industry in every country”. In an ever more globalized world, Malaysia is compelled to embrace 4IR in order to stay competitive. It is under this context that the forum discussion will attempt to explore possible opportunities and the associated challenges for Malaysian companies to capitalise on the potentials of 4IR.
